Bills to restrict abortion in Oklahoma pass House panel

A bill that passed a House committee on Tuesday would require abortion providers to have clinical privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of their practices.

Rep. Mike Ritze (R-Broken Arrow), who authored the bill, said Texas passed a similar bill last year.

"We decided to go on and put this front and center and make sure that Oklahoma has the same law in place to protect our women," Ritze said.

Another bill that passed the House Public Health Committee restricts the use of abortion-inducing drugs.
